Register now: Clinical Ethics Symposium, Perth, 29 Nov 2026
Registrations are open for the upcoming Clinical Ethics Symposium to be held at Royal Perth Hospital, WA, on Sunday 29 November 2026, 10am to 4pm.
The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) Clinical Ethics Committee, supported by CESA, will host this one day symposium which aims to generate interest in clinical ethical deliberation, building both capability and culture for a service that promotes collaborative ethical decision making in complex tertiary health care environments.
The day will cover why clinical ethics services matter, what an effective service looks like, and how to design and implement this in a tertiary hospital setting. This will be facilitated through a morning lecture series covering the philosophical foundations of ethics - with practical tips to help turn theory into practice - the interface of ethics and health law, the extra challenges in paediatric health care, what an ethics service can do, and how building ethics capability positively contributes to organisational culture. Delegates will then get a chance to participate in a highly interactive, live clinical ethics deliberation of challenging cases, involving a panel of local and national ethics experts.
Speakers to include Linda Sheahan, Anne Preisz, Cameron Stewart, Clare Fellingham, Maria Foundas, Joshua Salim, and Peter Allen.
