Support for clinical ethics initiatives

CESA is committed to promoting initiatives in clinical ethics that contribute to and build the CESA community and welcomes applications for support for such initiatives from CESA members. Details of upcoming clinical ethics events supported by CESA will be posted on this website.

  • Registration open: Sydney Clinical Ethics Intensive, 20-21 March 2026.

  • Clinical Ethics Roundtable, there will be three sessions in 2026 in this series of online meetings that create room for ethics reflection and skill development, co-hosted by the clinical ethics teams at South Eastern Sydney LHD, Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, and Western Sydney LHD. Roundtable is an informal space to explore practical clinical ethics issues in greater depth and in conversation with clinicians, academics and others. Dates in 2026:

    • Tues 24 Feb, 7pm-8.30pm: Hosted by the SESLHD team, “Supported decision-making and capacity assessment promote patient autonomy in modern medicine”, guest speaker Prof Jochen Vollman, discussant Prof Jackie Leach Scully.

    • Tues 30 June, 7pm-8.30pm: Hosted by the SCHN team, with a guest speaker talking about fabricated, induced illness by carer (FII), formerly called Munchhausen’s by Proxy.
