Your CESA membership renewal is now open: stay connected, stay involved

Dear members

Membership renewals for the Clinical Ethics Society of Australasia (CESA) are now open, and we’d love you to be part of what comes next.

Two years ago, we set out to build something that could advance and promote clinical ethics and support the integration of clinical ethics services into health care systems across Australasia.

Today CESA is a genuine community of health practitioners, students and trainees, health service staff, scholars and ethicists with a shared commitment to clinical ethics and its role in health care.

Renew now at https://www.clinicalethicssociety.org/membership

• 1-year membership — $50

• 2-year membership — $90

• Student/trainee membership — free

As we open our first membership renewal period, we want to reflect on some of what we have built together and invite you to stay part of what comes next.

In two years, CESA has supported:

  • the inaugural Sydney Clinical Ethics Colloquium (2024) and the Sydney Clinical Ethics Intensive (March 2026) — bringing the community together for deep, practical engagement with the issues that matter.

  • a regular Clinical Ethics Roundtable series tackling pressing questions: ethical tensions between patient best interests and organisational reputation; supported decision-making and capacity assessment; reconstituting the person in clinical care

  • the 16th National Paediatric Bioethics Conference (Melbourne, 2025) and the Clinical Ethics Advisory Group Special Interest Meeting (Christchurch, 2025)

  • a password-protected members resource hub — giving you access to event materials, membership newsletters and communications

  • broader stakeholder engagement – including the review of safety and quality standards, new ethics requirements in continuing professional development, and outreach to peer organisations – to advance the clinical ethics ecosystem across Australasia.

And we’re just getting started. CESA is supporting a growing program of events and education activities ahead over the next 18 months and will continue to build the resources and opportunities to connect and support members.

We also want to hear from you. If you have news, upcoming events, or initiatives to share with the CESA community, please reach out. Connecting like-minded people is one of the most valuable things we do.

With more than 120 members, the CESA community is active and growing and we hope you will remain part of it.

Please share this message with anyone in your network who should be part of this community.

Warm regards

Linda Sheahan

President, CESA
